In 2008, Dutch Researchers discovered that histatins (proteins found in salvia) actually assist with the healing of wounds. The studies were conducted by University of Amsterdam and were lead by head Researcher, Menno Oudhoff.

This is very exciting news especially for people who experience traumatic injuries, burns and even people who suffer from diabetes because histatins are easier to manufacture in the lab therefore can be mass produced. We hope that sometime in the future we will see products such as bandages that use histatins to help the healing process.

For more information on the study please review The FASEB Journal article, ‘Histatins are the major wound-closure stimulating factors in human saliva as identified in a cell culture assay.’

* Accept that some days you’re the pigeon, And some days you’re the statue.

* Always keep your words soft and sweet, Just in case you have to eat them.

* Always read stuff that will make you look good If you die in the middle of it.

* Drive carefully. It’s not only cars that can be Recalled by their maker.

* If you can’t be kind, at least have the decency to be vague.

* If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, It was probably worth it.

* It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply be kind to others.

* Never put both feet in your mouth at the same time, Because then you won’t have a leg to stand on.

* Nobody cares if you can’t dance well. Just get up and dance.

* Since it’s the early worm that gets eaten by the bird, sleep late.

* The second mouse gets the cheese.

* When everything’s coming your way, You’re in the wrong lane.

* Birthdays are good for you. The more you have, the longer you live.

* You may be only one person in the world, But you may also be the world to one person.

* Some mistakes are too much fun to make only once.

* We could learn a lot from crayons… Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names, and all are different colors, but they all have to live in the same box.

*A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery on a detour.

Note: Unfortunately we don’t have the original name of the author. Sorry.

The study included 80 children ranging in ages from 3 to 4 years old with their parents and also their teachers. This study watched the children’s ‘tendency to fearlessness and their social-emotional characteristics’ throughout one entire year (beginning and end) for accuracy.

Discoveries:

Heart rate in children with fearless behavioral was slow to begin with.

More fearless children had less empathy towards other students

More fearless children had difficulty showing facial expressions of fear whereas they were able to show’ facial emotions such as anger, surprise, happiness or sadness’.

More fearless children had higher levels of ‘general aggression – especially tending toward antisocial behavior such as taking advantage of friends, emotional shallowness and a lack of regret or guilt after doing something socially unacceptable.’

More fearless children were found to be sociable.

Apparently a new California Company called Sensa may have a new way to lose weight naturally and without dieting. They have just launched a remarkable new product that has been shown to control the appetite and convince the brain to stop overeating.

Sensa was developed by Dr. Alan Hirsch, an intrepid doctor and neuro-scientist, whose lifelong specialty has been to study how our senses, and in particular, smell and taste affect the brain’s functioning. Dr. Hirsch’s breakthrough occurred when he discovered that many of his patients who had lost their sense of smell and taste due to illness or accident experienced rapid weight gain. He recognized that certain smells and tastes seemed to be acting on the brain to control the appetite.

Dr Hirsch studied hundreds of compounds and after years of research developed a set of virtually odorless and tasteless food sprinkles that showed a strong impact on the body’s appetite-control center, which he called “Tastants”. Then, in one of the largest studies of a non-prescription weight-loss system, these Tastants were tested for effectiveness as a means of weight loss.

The results were significant. According to 6 month study conducted by Sensa, 1,436 women and men sprinkled flavorless “Tastant” crystals on everything they ate, and lost an average of 30.5 pounds – nearly 15% of their total body weight. This group was compared to a control group consisting of 100 individuals who only lost an average of 2 lbs.

Participants achieved these results without having to follow any special exercise regime or diet. Best of all, because it is tasteless and odorless and contains no stimulants and does not directly interact with the digestive system, there are no unpleasant side-effects. Every Sensa shaker has a “salty” and “sweet” Tastants. The user just has to sprinkle the sweet Tastants on all sweet foods and the salty Tastants on everything else. In addition, salty Tastants has less than 1 mg of sodium and sweet Tastants does not include any sugar. According to Dr Hirsch, “With Sensa, you can eat all the foods that satisfy your senses and you don’t have to deal with any intense food cravings or feelings of starvation. Sensa merely helps you eat less of the foods you love and gain greater satisfaction from smaller portions.”

If you have tried Sensa please share your thoughts / feedback on this product.

According to a recent study conducted at the Cornell Food and Brand Lab in Ithaca, N.Y. , 125 participants who watched exercise related commercials (examples included running shoes, fitness centers…etc) compared to general commercials (washing machines, car insurance…etc ate 22% less calories at a buffet lunch. They also found that the contributors who watched the exercise commercials felt more active and believed they were in better shape than the other group.

In conclusion, the researchers believe that the exercise commercials made the participants more health conscious. Therefore one way to help you reduce the number of calories you consume in your next meal try watching someone else exercise before you sit down to eat your meal.
